I’ll admit that I used to be a total makeup snob. At one point, I exclusively wore MAC and Clinique, and was of the impression that I was too grown up to wear drugstore makeup. This all changed, actually, because of mascara. My lashes are naturally long, thick, and curly, so all I really wanted in a mascara was that it was black, waterproof, and didn’t smudge. I went through MAC mascaras, Clinique mascaras, Sephora mascaras, and Benefit Bad Gal waterproof mascara, which was touted to be the end-all, be-all of uber waterproof/smudge proof mascaras.

Yep, they all smudged.

So, as luck would have it, Ulta was having a fantastic sale on CoverGirl makeup (buy two get one free), and, needing content for this place, I picked up my first piece of CG makeup since I was 13, CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume Blasting Waterproof mascara.

First impressions:
- I really hate the orange packaging (orange and I are not friends).
- The tube itself is really thick, as is the brush head.
- I really, really like the silicone bristles. I don’t know if they are, but they seem more sanitary.
- Goes on smoothly, no clumps.
- My lashes look defined and gorgeous, without being clumpy or overly-makeup-ed.

After continual use:
- This is my new favorite mascara.
- It doesn’t smudge (except that one time…I couldn’t resist that nap).
- It’s waterproof, but not so much so that it doesn’t come off with makeup remover (or, in one case, water and a washcloth).

In addition to my favorite, Very Black, this is also available in Black, and Black Brown.

You can pick this one up basically anywhere, but I highly suggest Ulta, as they frequently have buy two, get one free sales.
